Membership Openings for the Nebraska Children's Commission and Subgroups


The Nebraska Children’s Commission and several of its statutory subgroups occasionally seek applications for membership. A listing of the open statutory positions is below.

Nebraska Children's Commission

The Nebraska Children’s Commission is dedicated to working collaboratively with the three branches of government along with state, local, community, public and private stakeholders to enhance practices and programs to improve the safety and well-being of children and families in Nebraska.  As an advisory body, the Commission makes recommendations related to child welfare and juvenile justice reform.

Members of the Commission will be asked to serve until June 30, 2019.  Members would be required to attend Commission meetings every other month as well as participate in one of the Commission’s Committees, Workgroups, or Taskforces. The Nebraska Children’s Commission is seeking the following representative:

  1. Biological Parent Currently Or Previously Involved In The Child Welfare System

Foster Care Reimbursement Rate Committee

The FCRRC was codified at Neb. Rev. Stat. §43-4217 to make recommendations on foster care reimbursement rates, statewide standardized level of care assessment, and adoption assistance payments. Members of the Foster Care Reimbursement Rate Committee would serve a term of four years from the time of appointment. The Committee is seeking the following representative:

  1. A foster parent who contracts directly with the Department of Health and Human Services.

Applications for membership of the Foster Care Reimbursement Rate Committee can be download here, and should be submitted no later than Friday, June 30th.

Normalcy Task Force

The purpose of the Normalcy Task Force is to act as an advisory body while the “normalcy” provisions of the Strengthening Families Act are implemented in Nebraska. Members of the Normalcy Task Force would serve a term of two years from the time of appointment. The Task Force is seeking the following representative:

  1. Parent who has experience with the Foster Care System
  2. A representative of a child care institution
